At the Secretariat we are checking off important items from our action plan finalized at the last Steering Committee meeting and coordinating key events from investment agencies world over. Below are the highlights to help you mark your calendars and to know what ground has recently been covered:
Global Investors' India Forum
WAIPA, in association with ASSOCHAM, India's Apex Chamber for Commerce and Industry is holding a two day investor's forum on September 23 - 24, 2015 at Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi, India.
After this forum there will be an official re-launch of the “Make in India" Campaign by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 25, 2015 10:00 am IST. The forum aims to facilitate Investment and Ease of Doing Business; Cross-border Business Development; Strategic Collaborations and Policy Advocacy. India recognizes the importance of urgent creation of new infrastructure and a skilled work-force to support the goals of this forum.

Commonwealth Business Forum
The Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF) shall be held in Malta at the Hilton Hotel, St. Julians, on November 24-26, 2015. The CBF is a unique biennial event which occurs in parallel with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), attended by high-level delegations from the 53 Commonwealth countries, EU Members States, the G7, and from all over the world.
It is expected that 1200 delegates will be present for this year's event. Registrations are so far encouraging as top business people, Government officials, investors and entrepreneurs are on the confirmed list of delegates. The sessions which take place over three days include ample opportunities for networking and meetings (B2B) as well B2B as business to Government (B2G) meetings.

Cameroon Investment Forum
The Investment Promotion Agency of Cameroon (IPA) in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) will host the maiden edition of the Cameroon Investment Forum for year 2015 in the CDPDM Party House and Castel Hall in Douala on November 25 - 27, 2015.
The event will have the distinguish patronage of His Excellency, President Paul Biya, President of the Republic of Cameroon. The theme of the Forum is "Emergence in 2035 through Investments." WAIPA supports the objectives of this forum to promote the image of Cameroon to Investors.

WAIPA - PAIiIZ Study Tour
The annual study tour has always been a gathering of world over Investment Promotion Agencies getting together to share experiences and best practices. Invest in Poland as the co-host, this study tour held on August 23 - 27, 2015 in Poland brought 7-8 IPA representatives to showcase their investment promotion practices and improve on existing investor engagement processes.
Participants were welcomed by Ismail Ersahin, the Executive Director of WAIPA; Maciej Gorski, Advisor of the Management Board for Invest in Poland; Wioleta Witczak-Smolnik Director of the Information and Communication Department for Invest in Poland. This study tour had a focus on the innovative automotive sector and included site visits and meetings with companies.
Participants represented Invest in Croatia; Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation; National Agency of Investment and Privatization Republic of Belarus; Invest in Kyrgyz Republic; Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey; Tatarstan Investment Development Agency; Invest in Moldova and other IPAs.

The Business 20 (B20) outreach group is an influential platform bringing together business leaders from G20 economies, and advocates for critical issues for enterprises. This year, the group met in Turkey. WAIPA President, Arda Ermut spoke at B20Turkey on September 4, 2015 and talked about a need for a global governance system to deal with economic challenges. He also said that when it comes to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) the approach should be inclusive and robust.

B20Turkey started off with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan's address where he spoke about the urgent need to bring prosperity and stability to the world.

STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING
The first meeting of the new term of the Steering Committee will be held in London on October 9, 2015 hosted by our newly elected EU Directorship UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). The committee will mainly deliberate on the WAIPA Action Plan.
